Dofus is an MMORPG created by the French studio Ankama in 2004.
It has lasted through different versions over time and, even today, is still known in several formats.
It has lasted through different versions over time and, even today, is still known in several formats.
It is a true social network in addition to its very particular gameplay, which has managed to keep players hooked for so many years.
The game is available on PC and mobile. As for consoles, Ankama offers different experiences unrelated to the main game.
The Krosmoz universe is huge and is not planning to stop expanding any time soon.
There are currently 4 playable versions:
- The main game, still developed in Flash—an important detail as it will soon be replaced. However, players will still be able to enjoy their adventures here despite the change.
- Unity, the new version, as its name suggests, runs on a completely new engine. This version has been rebuilt from scratch over several years, which explains the lack of content compared to version 2.
- Retro, a return to the past with version 1.29. However, many elements have been modified by developers, which displeased some purists who abandoned the game.
- Touch, designed for mobile and tablet gameplay. This version is developed partly in France and partly in Japan, offering unique features not found in other versions. Everything has been adapted for touch controls. Players using emulators will be detected and banned, so caution is advised.
A new cross-platform version is in development, which will include mobile compatibility. However, Touch will not be replaced, as the two games are very different.
The game has seen many ups and downs, especially due to the development demands of the new version, which drew too many resources and left the community with little new or original content.
Players complained and some even left the game.
But the bad times are fading, giving way to renewed hope with events like new servers and a global revamp that brings more activity than ever before.
For fans of Dofus 2, the version will remain online but will receive fewer and fewer updates to encourage players to switch to Unity.
Subscription prices have also increased for the first time in 20 years, a historic change.
Dofus is a true anomaly in the gaming world, standing alone without any real competition for decades.
Players can enjoy PVP battles in the Kolizeum or explore PVE dungeons across the vast World of Twelve.
With 19 different classes, each offering unique gameplay, there's endless variety and reasons to rediscover the game again and again. This number can vary depending on the edition.
Add to that temporary events like Temporis and a massive new zone in development—there’s plenty to look forward to in Dofus' future.
